But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us.

About us

Steve de Perrot has been studying art since childhood when he took private drawing and painting classes with numerous Lancaster County, Pennsylvania artists. Through high school and college Steve pursued his interest in watercolor painting and developed his passion for working in clay in 1982, while a student at Juniata College.

After college he continued to explore the nature of clay through workshops and an intensive one year assistantship with Bernville, Pennsylvania potter, John Troup.

Steve established Pots by de Perrot in 1985. Shirley, his wife, has been working in the business since 1988 and adds her inventive basket handles to produce eye-catching, collaborative vessels.

Recent years have brought tremendous growth, the most exciting being Steve and Shirley's two children, Johnny and Danielle, and the studio and gallery in Steve's hometown of Lititz, Pennsylvania.

In 1999, Steve created a "PA Woodlands" donor life wall for the Lititz Public Library. This project, as well as wrought iron tile tables created by Steve are featured in a book titled "Contemporary Art Tile" by Deborah Goletz. This book was released in the spring of 2001.

"It is a blessing that it is possible to do what I love to do - fulltime! The process of carefully throwing a form on the potters wheel, followed by numerous stages of drying, trimming, decorating and firing constantly invigorates and intrigues me. The possibilities when forming and decorating by hand are virtually limitless, resulting in ware that is unique and distinctive. My intention is to produce functional pottery and tile art that is pleasing to the eye and the touch."
